Dr. Steven Samuel is the medical director for all Long Island CityMD locations. In addition to being board certified in emergency medicine (ACOEP), Dr. Samuel is also certified by the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners (NBOME). He is also BLS, ACLS, ATLS and PALS certified.
Prior to joining CityMD, Dr. Samuel was an emergency medicine attending physician at Island Medical Physicians in Port Jefferson, New York. Before that, Dr. Samuel was an emergency medicine resident at St. Barnabas Hospital in Bronx, New York. This hospital, which handled more than 100,000 Emergency Department visits annually, is a level one trauma center, an accredited stroke center, and an accredited heart care center.
Dr. Samuel holds a Doctor of Osteopathy from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine/NYIT. He completed an emergency medicine residency and an emergency medicine track internship at St. Barnabas Hospital. Dr. Samuel earned his Bachelors of Science from the New York Institute of Technology, and expects to complete a Masters in health care delivery science from Dartmouth College in 2017.
Fluent in English and Spanish, Dr. Samuel has garnered many awards, including the 5th highest score and 99th percentile in the national in-service exam, the Tintinalli Quiz Maker. He has also contributed to several significant research studies.
